Mel+Luke | London | UK Wedding Photographer
I had one day to explore London while I was in the UK in December, and I was lucky enough to have meet Mel + Luke at the wedding I shot there (which I blogged a couple of weeks ago). They were so friendly and welcoming, and ended up spending the entire day with us! Us, meaning my friend Lydia and I, who you can spot in the background of some of these photos, hehe. It turned into a sightseeing, casual couples’s session, and there were actually five of us, as their friend Danny also came along! I’ll admit I wasn’t sure how it would work with a group, but it honestly was so fun to just hang out and take things as they came, verses planning everything out, which is what I normally would do.
London was fantastic. The buildings, the streets, the cartoonishly-tall buses, the accents…I was in heaven. I asked Mel + Luke if they cringed every time they heard an American talk, because it must sound so uncultured. They said no and that they liked American accents, but I’m still not sure if they were just being nice or not ;) We went to see St. Paul’s, from alllll the angles, and gosh, what a gorgeous church. I even got to sing “Feed the Birds” on the steps of St. Paul while birds flitted around, which fulfilled a childish dream I didn’t even know I had. We crossed the Millennium Bridge, strolled past the Tate Modern, and stood under the London Eye (which was so very cool at night). London is so walkable, and everywhere you go there are stunning buildings, art, and breathtaking views.
Mel + Luke are such a hilarious, kind, adventurous couple. They met while teaching abroad in China, and while they were dating made a pact to visit a new city in the world every month for a year. I also found out they have a whole arsenal of high-fives they do, so of course we had to include those at the end! That part found me laying flat on my back of the pier, laughing my butt off while they went through their whole routine. I absolutely love finding out the quirks of my couples and including them in their session. Especially when they are as cool as coordinated-aerial-high-fiving! I had left my real jacket behind at the AirBnB, so ended up freezing halfway through the day, and Mel gave me her scarf to wear while we walked around. Then when we were leaving she told me to keep it! I literally had just met her the day before, and it was seriously the nicest thing and I will treasure it forever! Mel, you’re great. I’m already scheming up plans to come visit you guys so we can go on more adventures.
