Lauren+Nic | Lynn Woods Anniversary

Lauren and Nic explored (nearly) every inch of the Lynn Woods Reservation with me for their anniversary shoot. We were lost pretty much the whole time, but they are adventurers at heart, and we all enjoyed it! This has turned out to be one of the most meaningful sessions I've ever done. I'm so excited to share Lauren's words with you guys about their love story and our time together:

As Nic and I venture into our third year of marriage we’ve come to value marriage for what it really is. Very beautiful and not easy. 

We met doing theater together in college, spending hours playing pretend, and a few more hours after each rehearsal becoming best friends. Most of which was spent in the woods together. We laughed, we had adventures, and we fell in love. And so it is very fitting that we spent this day celebrating three years of marriage in the woods, experiencing again the joy of being in nature together.

Marriage is not easy all the time though. In reality, marriage faces a lot of struggles and can feel like a battle sometimes. Not against your spouse as much as against your own will. And we have recently learned what that looks like for us and are figuring our way back to the fun and beautiful marriage we want. The past few months our marriage has been tested, to the brink almost. But we love each other. We make marriage work. And this day in the woods healed us in many ways. We can see our love for each other and that’s a powerful reminder.

Abigail asked us as we walked through the woods, “what was is that drew you to each other?” And Nic’s response was, “I saw her and knew instantly that she was the one. She was everything, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. My heart was beating so fast and that was it”. Woah. This day and those words brought us back to the beginning when we fell in love in the woods. At a time when we felt the most lost, this experience of just loving each other rewrote our path. And now we have these images to remind us that yes, marriage is hard, but we are so glad we are doing it together. Marriage is also so beautiful, and we wouldn’t have ours look any other way.
